Player Wellbeing

Responsible Gambling at 8bat

Gambling should be a source of entertainment, not stress or financial pressure. At 8bat, player wellbeing is not an afterthought — it is built into everything we do. Whether you are following PSL cricket from Lahore or watching a UFC card in Karachi, the tools and information on this page can help you stay in control.

What Is Responsible Gambling?

Responsible gambling means engaging with betting and casino products purely for entertainment, within financial and time limits you are comfortable with, and never under the influence of pressure, stress or the need to recover losses.

A responsible gambler sets a budget for the week — say, PKR 2,000 for a PSL weekend — and treats that amount like any other leisure expense: a night out or a streaming subscription. Once it is spent, the session ends. No chasing, no borrowing, no escalating.

The difference between recreational gambling and problem gambling often comes down to control. As long as the player is making deliberate, informed choices within comfortable limits, gambling can be a legitimate form of entertainment. The moment gambling starts to affect finances, relationships or mental health, it has moved beyond that boundary.

Remember: Gambling outcomes are determined by chance. No strategy, pattern recognition or "hot streak" changes the mathematical odds in favour of the player over time. Treat every session as entertainment spending — not income potential.

Healthy Signs

  • You gamble with money you can afford to lose
  • You stop when you have hit your pre-set limit
  • You take regular breaks during sessions
  • Gambling does not affect work, family or finances
  • You enjoy the entertainment, not just the outcome
  • You can walk away easily — win or lose

Warning Signs

  • Gambling with money set aside for bills or essentials
  • Chasing losses to "win back" what was spent
  • Feeling anxious, irritable or restless when not gambling
  • Hiding gambling activity from family or friends
  • Borrowing money specifically to fund gambling
  • Unable to stop even when you want to
If you recognise three or more warning signs above: Please read the self-exclusion and support sections on this page and contact our support team at [email protected]. Help is available. You are not alone.

Responsible Gambling Tools

All of the following tools are available to registered 8bat users. They are designed to help you maintain control of your gambling activity without requiring you to close your Account entirely.

Deposit Limits

Set a maximum deposit amount per day, week or month. Once your limit is reached, the cashier will prevent further deposits until the period resets. Increases to a deposit limit take effect after a mandatory cooling-off period; reductions take effect immediately.

Loss Limits

Cap the amount you can lose within a defined time window — daily, weekly or monthly. This prevents a bad run from turning into a damaging financial event. Once your loss limit is hit, access to real-money betting is paused until the period ends.

Session Time Limits

Set a maximum continuous session duration. When your time limit expires, you will receive a prompt to take a break or end the session. This is particularly useful during long events like ICC Test matches or PSL doubleheader days.

Reality Checks

Receive periodic on-screen reminders showing how long you have been playing and the net result of your session. Reality checks are a simple but effective way to stay aware of time and spending without interrupting the experience completely.

Take a Break (Cooling-Off)

Request a short voluntary pause on your Account — from 24 hours up to several weeks. During a cooling-off period, you cannot log in to the gambling sections of the Platform. Your Account and balance remain secure for when you return.

Self-Exclusion

Self-exclusion is a formal, binding restriction. You can request exclusion for a defined period (temporary) or permanently. Once activated, access to gambling features is blocked and the restriction cannot be reversed until the exclusion period has fully expired. Temporary self-exclusion periods start from 6 months.

How to Activate These Tools: Contact 8bat support at [email protected] to set up or adjust any responsible gambling tool on your Account. State your preferred tool, the limit amount and the time period in your message. Reductions and self-exclusion requests are processed immediately; limit increases are subject to a mandatory cooling-off review period.

Gambling Self-Assessment

The questions below are adapted from widely used responsible gambling screening tools. They are not a clinical diagnosis — but if you answer "yes" to several of them, it may be worth speaking to someone or contacting our support team.

You can complete this honestly, privately and without anyone knowing. Think about your gambling activity over the past 12 months.

This is not a diagnostic tool. It is a private reflection exercise. If your responses concern you, the most important step is to talk to someone — a trusted friend, a counsellor or our support team.

Have you ever spent more money gambling than you originally planned for that session?

Think about the last few months of play, not just your most recent session.

Have you tried to "win back" losses by continuing to bet after you had planned to stop?

Loss chasing is one of the most consistent patterns in problem gambling.

Have you ever borrowed money — from family, friends or a financial service — specifically to gamble?

This includes mobile wallet credit, bank overdrafts and informal loans.

Have you felt anxious, irritable or low when unable to gamble or when you tried to stop?

Emotional dependence on gambling is a recognised sign of problem gambling.

Have you hidden the extent of your gambling from someone close to you?

Secrecy around gambling is a significant indicator worth taking seriously.

Has gambling affected your ability to meet financial commitments — bills, rent, family expenses?

Financial harm is one of the most direct consequences of problem gambling.

Have you ever felt that you need to gamble with increasingly larger amounts to get the same level of excitement?

Escalating stakes for the same emotional return can indicate developing dependency.

Recognising Problem Gambling

Problem gambling does not always look the same in every person. The signs below apply whether you play sports betting, live casino or slot games on 8bat. They can develop gradually over weeks or months.

Financial Pressure

Regularly gambling beyond your budget, defaulting on household bills in Lahore or Karachi, or using savings that were not meant for entertainment.

Emotional Changes

Mood swings linked to winning or losing, persistent anxiety about gambling outcomes, or feeling that only a win can make things feel right again.

Social Withdrawal

Withdrawing from family gatherings, friends or social activities to gamble instead. Becoming defensive or secretive when gambling activity is mentioned.

Loss of Control

Repeated failed attempts to reduce or stop gambling. Continuing to bet even after acknowledging that it is causing harm. Feeling powerless to stop.

Age Verification & Underage Access

8bat is strictly for adults. The minimum age is 18 — or higher where the Operator's licence jurisdiction sets a greater minimum. Age verification is a mandatory step in the Account registration process, and the Platform will not permit access to gambling features until verification is satisfactorily completed.

If you share a device with younger family members in your household — in Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar or anywhere across Pakistan — we strongly recommend keeping your Account credentials private and enabling device-level access controls. Never allow a minor to use a device on which you are logged in to 8bat.

Any Account found to be registered by or used by a person under the required minimum age will be closed immediately. Any balance associated with such an Account will be handled in accordance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.

If a minor has registered an Account: Please contact our support team immediately at [email protected]. We will close the Account and take appropriate action without delay.
1
Keep Credentials Private

Never save your 8bat username or password in a shared browser profile, and do not let others use a device on which you are logged in.

2
Use Device Parental Controls

Android and iOS devices both offer parental control features. Enable screen time limits and app restrictions on any device accessible to children in your home.

3
Install Filtering Software

Parental filtering software can restrict access to gambling websites at the network or device level. These tools are widely available for both Android and desktop environments.

4
Talk Openly With Young People

Age-appropriate, honest conversations about gambling risks — including financial and emotional consequences — are one of the most effective preventive measures available to parents and guardians.

Self-Exclusion — What You Need to Know

Self-exclusion is the most decisive tool available to a player who feels they are losing control. It is a formal commitment — not a soft preference — and 8bat takes it seriously. Once self-exclusion is activated, it cannot be reversed until the exclusion period has fully expired.

We are aware that some players might request self-exclusion in a moment of clarity and then feel the urge to reverse it shortly after. The mandatory exclusion period exists precisely to protect against that impulse. A self-exclusion request processed at 11 pm after a difficult PSL session will be honoured in full.

Permanent Self-Exclusion: If you choose permanent self-exclusion, your Account will be closed and you will be blocked from registering a new Account. This is the right choice for players who feel they have a gambling problem and want a definitive break. Please do not take this step lightly — but if you need it, please use it.

Contact the 8bat support team at [email protected] with the subject line "Self-Exclusion Request". State your registered username, your preferred exclusion period (minimum 6 months for temporary; permanent is also available), and a brief description of your request. Requests are processed as a priority — you will receive confirmation once your exclusion is active.

No. Once self-exclusion is active, it cannot be reversed until the exclusion period expires. This is intentional — it protects users from impulse decisions made during vulnerable moments. When your exclusion period ends, you will be required to explicitly request reactivation and confirm you understand the conditions before your Account access is restored.

Any verified real-money balance in your Account at the time of self-exclusion will be held securely. Subject to completion of KYC verification and applicable withdrawal conditions, a withdrawal of your remaining balance can be arranged during the exclusion period. Bonus funds are forfeited upon self-exclusion. Contact support for assistance with a withdrawal during exclusion.

No. When self-exclusion is activated, all promotional and marketing communications from 8bat will be stopped immediately. You should not receive emails about bonuses, PSL promotions, or any other incentive communications during your exclusion period. If you do receive such communications in error, please report it to support immediately.

No. A cooling-off period is a shorter, lighter pause — typically 24 hours to a few weeks — intended for players who want a temporary break without the full commitment of self-exclusion. Self-exclusion is a formal, extended restriction starting from 6 months minimum. If you are experiencing signs of problem gambling, self-exclusion is the more appropriate tool. Cooling-off is more suitable for players who simply want to step back from a particularly active period.

Getting Support

If you feel your gambling is becoming a problem, speaking to someone is the most important step. The following types of support are available — please reach out without hesitation.

Talk to Someone You Trust

Sharing what you are experiencing with a trusted family member or close friend in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad or wherever you are in Pakistan can be the first and most effective step. You do not need to manage problem gambling alone.

Seek Professional Counselling

Professional counsellors with experience in behavioural addictions — including gambling disorder — can provide structured, confidential support. Mental health services in Pakistan's major cities have expanded significantly; seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Contact 8bat Support

Our support team is available in English (with Urdu assistance available) during Pakistan Standard Time hours. Email us at [email protected] to discuss responsible gambling tools, self-exclusion, account restrictions or any concern about your gambling activity.

Gambling Support Organisations

International responsible gambling organisations — such as Gamblers Anonymous, GamCare (available in the Operator's licence jurisdiction) and BeGambleAware — provide free, confidential information and support. Where the Operator holds a specific licence, users in that jurisdiction may access that jurisdiction's designated responsible gambling resources.

Mental Health Services in Pakistan

Pakistan has a growing network of mental health professionals and institutions. Psychiatry and clinical psychology services are available in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and other major cities. A gambling problem is a recognised behavioural health issue — it is appropriate to seek medical support.

Support Groups

Peer support groups — both in-person and online — connect people who share the same experience. Knowing that others understand what you are going through can be a powerful part of recovery. Gamblers Anonymous operates meetings in various formats and is accessible internationally.

How 8bat Promotes Responsible Play

8bat's commitment to responsible gambling is not confined to this page. It informs our content decisions, our promotional practices and our support team's training. Below is a summary of how that commitment manifests across the Platform.

No Misleading Promotional Claims

8bat does not use "guaranteed win" language, fabricated winner testimonials or misleading statistics to imply that gambling is a reliable source of income. Every promotional description includes material conditions clearly.

No Targeting of Excluded Players

Once a player activates self-exclusion, all marketing communications cease immediately. We do not attempt to re-engage self-excluded users with promotions or incentives during their exclusion period under any circumstances.

Mandatory Age Verification

No player can access real-money gambling features without completing KYC age verification. This is a non-negotiable requirement for every 8bat Account, regardless of the registration method used.

Monitoring for Problematic Patterns

Unusual account activity patterns — such as rapid escalation in deposits after a loss run — are monitored. Where concerning patterns are identified, our support team may proactively reach out to ask if the player is okay and to offer responsible gambling tools.

Transparent Terms and Conditions

All wagering requirements, bonus conditions and withdrawal terms are clearly stated. We do not bury critical information in collapsed fine print or rely on users missing important clauses to generate revenue.

Ready to Play? Set Your Limits First

Before you start your next cricket or casino session on 8bat, take a moment to confirm your deposit limit is set, your session time control is active and you know exactly how much entertainment budget you have for the week.
